Kaplan Higher Education Opens Kaplan College - Renton

Renton, Wash. - January 31, 2006 - Kaplan Higher Education today announced that it has opened Kaplan College -- Renton Campus at 500 SW 39th Street, Suite 155 in Renton. This is Kaplan's first campus location in Washington State and it serves the growing King County community.
The school will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony today, Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will feature Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna, Renton Mayor Kathy Keolker, members of the Renton Chamber of Commerce, students and faculty.
"Given the tremendous need for trained medical professionals, Kaplan College is offering an excellent new opportunity for the community," said Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna.
Renton Mayor Kathy Keolker added, "We're very pleased to welcome Kaplan College to our City. Kaplan will be a valuable addition to the growing list of higher education and training schools that have chosen to locate in Renton."
Kaplan College -- Renton currently offers three different allied health diploma programs, including Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant and Medical Office Specialist. The campus is located in the Time Square development in the north end of Kent Valley, WA, at the intersection of Lind Avenue and SW 39th Street.
"We are excited to become a part of Renton and the King County community, and we look forward to serving this community of learners," said Jeff Sikora, Executive Director of Kaplan College -- Renton Campus.
The 22,000 square foot campus features a dental lab, a medical lab, two computer labs, a library and a student lounge area. To design the space, school officials worked with an advisory committee of local health care professionals to ensure that the school's labs and equipment closely mirror the environment and technology frequently used in the industry.
Programs are offered during the day as well as in the evening. In addition, hands-on courses and a required externship will assist students in developing the skills necessary to compete for entry-level positions in their chosen field. The school also offers career placement services to help graduates locate job opportunities, fine-tune resumes and enhance interviewing skills.
Kaplan College, Renton Campus is approved by The Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board of the State of Washington.
