HAGERSTOWN BUSINESS COLLEGE HOSTS OPEN HOUSE ON JUNE 4th
CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEPARTMENT WILL FEATURE LATEST IN NEW LAB TECHNOLOGY, FIRE ARMS TRAINING SIMULATOR (FATS) AND FORENSIC RECOVERY OF EVIDENCE DEMONSTRATIONS (FRED)
Hagerstown, MD – June 2, 2005 - On Saturday, June 4th, Hagerstown Business College will host an Open House to showcase the latest in hands-on training from its Criminal Justice and Computer Forensics departments. From 10am-12pm, attendees may see live demonstrations of the Fire Arms Training Simulator (FATS) Lab, and the Forensic Recovery of Evidence Device (FRED). Hagerstown is the only school in the tri-county area to offer such sophisticated training options to students.
The Fire Arms Training Simulator Lab (FATS) gives students the opportunity to get simulated firearms training in a realistic, yet safe environment. Using sound simulation and projected moving target applications via video and laser, the simulator places students in life-sized video reenactments taken from actual police scenarios, where officers must make a split second decision to use a firearm. The firearm used in the simulator is not capable of firing live rounds. Additional police academy training may be required for law enforcement jobs.
Hagerstown Business College will also showcase The Forensics Recovery of Evidence Device (FRED) at the June 4th Open House. This device, which uses technology similar to that employed by the FBI and local police, can help gather evidence from computer CD-ROM’s, cell phones and cameras, with a focus on evading passwords and recovering “deleted” files.
FRED is part of Hagertown Business College’s Computer Forensics program, which trains students in criminology, data recovery and analysis, computer operating systems, network security, encryption, cyber crime investigation, ensuring the integrity of the chain of evidence, and preparing evidence for presentation in court.
As part of the Open House, admissions representatives will also offer tours of the school and program information from 9am – 12pm. The next cycle of classes at Hagerstown Business College start in July. For more information, contact Hagerstown Business College at 800-422-2670 or visit www.hagerstownbusinesscol.org.
