Kaplan Professional Announces Expansion of Kaplan IT;
Appoints Chip Schuneman to President
and Stephen Fredette to EVP Strategy
Chicago, August 10, 2005 – Kaplan Professional, a division of worldwide education services provider Kaplan, Inc., today announced that it has expanded Kaplan IT, advancing several key executives and consolidating its IT businesses under the umbrella Kaplan IT. Kaplan IT is now the single source provider for IT professionals in corporations and law firms seeking best in class assessment, training, certification preparation and simulation solutions. Chip Schuneman has been appointed to president and Stephen Fredette has been appointed to executive vice president of strategy to lead the business. This is the latest in a series of strategic initiatives designed to create the most comprehensive set of education and training services for Kaplan’s IT clients.
As president of Kaplan IT, Mr. Schuneman, formerly the president of Kaplan’s Self Test Software, will oversee its three business units:
In addition to Mr. Schuneman, Kaplan has appointed Stephen Fredette, president of Perfect Access Speer, to the additional role of executive vice president of strategy for Kaplan IT.

Brian Sholly, former vice president of marketing for Kaplan IT’s Transcender and Self Test Software companies, also has been promoted to vice president and general manager of the Certification Preparation business. Geoff Lander will continue in his role as chief executive officer of the recently acquired Software Training Technology.
