KAPLAN HIGHER EDUCATION EXPANDS WITH NEW MARIC COLLEGE CAMPUS IN BAKERSFIELD, CA

Bakersfield Marks 17th Location in California, 73rd Nationwide

Bakersfield, CA, April 13, 2005 – Kaplan Higher Education today announced the opening of a new Maric College campus in Bakersfield, California.  Located at 1914 Wible Road in the Valley Plaza Mall, the new 20,000 square foot Bakersfield campus is a branch of Maric College’s Sacramento campus and is the second new location to be added in California this year.

The new Bakersfield campus has four computer labs, two medical labs, a dental lab, six lecture classrooms and a student lounge.  The next cycle of classes begins on May 2, 2005. 

“Kaplan saw a clear need for additional educational resources in Bakersfield, and our new location will enable us to bring opportunities to a broader base of students in Kern County,” said Lynn Kline, Executive Director of Maric College, Bakersfield.  “Our goal is to form an alliance with the Bakersfield community that will help serve its education and employment needs.”

Maric College, Bakersfield is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and offers diploma programs in Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, and Medical Office Specialist.  The campus also awards an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies.
