Andrea Mainelli Named Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Kaplan Professional

Chicago, IL, March 3, 2004 -- Kaplan Professional, a division of global educational services provider Kaplan, Inc., announced today that it has appointed Andrea Mainelli to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Kaplan Professional. In this role, she will have operating responsibility for Kaplan Professional's information technology training businesses, which include Self Test Software, Transcender, and Perfect Access Speer. Additionally, she will be responsible for driving Kaplan Professional's long range strategic planning and acquisition activities.

Prior to this appointment, Mainelli served as acting Chief Financial Officer of Kaplan Professional before Richard Paulk was named to the position. She also served as Vice President of Development for Kaplan, Inc. and as a Regional Director for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions.

Mainelli joined Kaplan in 2002 after spending nearly ten years with Enron in London and Houston. She held a variety of positions at Enron, including serving as Principal, Enron International, where she led the development and construction of power and gas infrastructure assets. Prior to that, she spent three years in investment banking with Morgan Stanley in New York and London.

Mainelli holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and is a 1985 graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges.
