Scott August Named CFO of Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions
NEW YORK, November 7, 2003 - Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions (KTPA), a division of global educational services provider Kaplan, Inc. announced today that it has promoted Scott August to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), overseeing financial operations and business development for the division.
August joined Kaplan in 2000 and has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Kaplan Professional, a division of Kaplan, Inc. which provides licensing and continuing education training, certification and professional development courses. He has played a leadership role in the growth of a division that, since his joining, has seen significant growth both organically as well as through acquisition. Since 2000, Kaplan Professional has solidified and expanded its presence in markets including financial services, real estate, home inspection, architecture, publishing, information technology and accounting. August was a major contributor to the division's overall growth and success, helping to close on a number of acquisitions, bringing process improvements to the different Kaplan Professional companies, enhancing the finance organization and providing guidance and strategic counsel to the management team. In 2002, Kaplan Professional served 350,000 individuals worldwide.

During 2002, KTPA enrolled nearly 250,000 students, including more than 60,000 in online programs. Although best known for its test prep classes, the division offers a host of tutoring programs, online courses, admissions consulting services and K-12 programs. The division also has a vast array of offerings for medical licensure preparation.
Prior to joining Kaplan, August worked as divisional Vice President, Finance, for The McGraw-Hill Companies, following a tenure working internal audit for the company. He began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. where he became a manager in their audit and business advisory practice.
August holds a CPA as well as an M.B.A. from Rutgers University, and a B.S. in economics from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.
