Kaplan Professional Forms New Business Unit

Josh Levenson Named President of Kaplan Professional Schools

(New York, NY - March 4, 2003) - Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to growing its classroom operations, Kaplan Professional, a division of Kaplan, Inc., today announced the creation of Kaplan Professional Schools, a new classroom-based business unit born out of the division's real estate schools and focused on providing students with premium education across a variety of curricula.

Combining existing classroom and field operations, Kaplan Professional Schools replaces Kaplan Professional Real Estate Schools, a network of five schools based in Texas, California, Minnesota, Colorado and New Mexico. The new unit integrates financial services offerings with the schools' current classroom and online real estate education - creating broad curricula at the five schools that includes professional training in real estate, securities, insurance, appraisal, contractor and home inspection. Kaplan Professional Schools will also serve as a platform for launching new curricula and identifying additional markets for growth.

"Our goal is to ensure an outstanding and consistent student experience, across all of our curricula," said Eric Cantor, President of Kaplan Professional. "By leveraging existing resources such as our curricula, customer service, call center and management capabilities, we can improve our students' experience and meet the needs of the local markets while also accelerating business development opportunities."

Josh Levenson, currently Vice President, General Manager, Kaplan Professional Real Estate Schools, will head up the new unit as President, Kaplan Professional Schools. In this capacity, he will lead management strategy, curriculum development and business growth for the five schools.

"Under Josh's leadership, Kaplan Professional Real Estate Schools has exceeded performance expectations, increasing share and revenues well ahead of overall market growth," said Cantor. "I can think of no one better suited to lead this new division. Josh's relentless commitment to superior customer service and quality education will no doubt take Kaplan Professional Schools to new heights of success."

Levenson has been associated with Kaplan for more than 25 years, serving in a variety of executive roles within both Kaplan Professional and Kaplan's test prep division. In addition to leading Kaplan Professional Real Estate Schools, he has served as Vice President and General Manager of the Anthony Schools in California and Regional Vice President of Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions. He began his career in 1976, when he opened Kaplan's first test preparation center in Madison, Wisconsin and later opened centers in Milwaukee and Minneapolis, the latter of which grew into one of the company's largest test prep centers.

The former Kaplan Professional Real Estate Schools provide real estate licensing and continuing education programs through live classroom instruction, Internet-based learning, and correspondence courses, to help real estate professionals acquire the skills needed to meet state licensing and educational requirements. In addition, the schools offer programs for Sales Agents, Brokers, Appraisers and Contractors. The schools include Anthony Schools in California, The Leonard-Hawes Real Estate Schools in Texas, Jones College in Colorado, The Dearborn Real Estate Institute in New Mexico, and Prosource Educational Services in Minnesota. In 2002, these schools served more than 150,000 students.
