Kaplan K12 Learning Services Launches TAKS Advantage Supplemental Instructional Programs
Programs Designed to Boost Student Achievement on Exit-Level TAKS
New York, NY, April 8, 2003 - Just in time to help students succeed on the 2004 exit-level TAKS, Kaplan K12 Learning Services, a leading provider of standards-based educational services for schools, has launched its TAKS Advantage supplemental instructional programs for the Grade-11 TAKS in English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science. Each program consists of a highly interactive and engaging 15-hour curriculum that provides students with test-taking practice and reinforces the content and skills necessary to excel on each TAKS. Kaplan has helped thousands of students excel on exit-level tests through similar Advantage programs in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
"With the introduction of 11th grade TAKS exit test requirements for the class of 2005, schools are under tremendous pressure to help their students succeed on these challenging exams," said Stuart Udell, President, Kaplan K12 Learning Services. "Kaplan's TAKS Advantage program synthesizes our 65-year history of helping students excel on standardized tests to meet the specific needs of Texas educators and students."
Each TAKS Advantage program includes an abbreviated and a full-length practice test as well as twelve one-hour instructional units aligned to state standards. Thorough instructional materials guide teachers through program delivery and include detailed presentation notes, recommendations for working with Limited English Proficiency students and suggestions for reinforcing the skills covered in each unit. To further help teachers implement the program, schools may purchase professional development and support services delivered by the Kaplan K12 Professional Services Team.
