Veronica Dillon Named EVP, Chief Administrative Officer Of Kaplan, Inc.

NEW YORK, May 21, 2002 -- Veronica Dillon has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Kaplan, Inc., a leading provider of educational services to individuals, schools and businesses. In her new position, Ms. Dillon will continue to serve as General Counsel, and will be responsible for all legal, real estate, human resources and administrative functions. Kaplan is a subsidiary of The Washington Post Company, (NYSE: WPO).

"Ronnie has played a very important role at Kaplan, and her extraordinary skills have been instrumental in helping the Company grow from $78 million in 1991 to well over $500 million in revenue today," said Jonathan Grayer, Kaplan Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "This announcement underscores the expanded role that Ronnie has assumed in recent years, as well as the expansion of Kaplan itself into a large, multi-faceted company."

Ms. Dillon joined Kaplan in February, 1991 as Corporate Counsel. Since that time, Kaplan has become a broad provider of educational services providing test preparation, post-secondary education, K12 services for students and schools, and professional training.

Prior to joining Kaplan, Ms. Dillon was Assistant General Counsel at Macmillan, Inc. from 1982 through 1990. She had served as a staff attorney at the New York Regional Office of the Federal Trade Commission from 1980 to 1982 with responsibility for consumer protection and antitrust matters. Ms. Dillon received a BA from St. Johns in 1971, and taught at the Commander Shea School in Manhattan for two years. After graduating from Fordham Law School in 1976, she served as an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for four years.
