eSCORE.com Partners with Free Spirit Publishing, Fairview Press to Provide High Quality Educational Content, Books Online for Parents and Kids
New York (April 3, 2000) – eSCORE.com, the Web's first educational services site for parents and their kids newborn to age 18, today announced that it has signed partnership agreements with Free Spirit Publishing and Fairview Press to excerpt their rich educational content on eSCORE.com. eSCORE.com will also sell books from both publishers in its online store. The new content and products will supplement the broad array of existing eSCORE.com resources to help parents provide the best learning experiences for their children.
eSCORE.com is creating a new e-education category -- one that blends the best of the Internet with highly interactive, customized person-to-person services, featuring direct contact for parents with learning experts, and soon for school-age children with live, online academic tutors.
Free Spirit Publishing is an award-winning publisher of nonfiction materials for children and teens, parents, educators, and counselors. eSCORE.com will excerpt portions of Free Spirit content from a series of popular books including What Teens Need to Succeed; The School-Savvy Parent; The Survival Guide for Parents of Gifted Kids; How to Handle a Hard-to-Handle Kid; and When your Child has LD. Free Spirit is based in Minneapolis, MN.
"Our new partnership is an excellent match," said Judy Galbraith, Free Spirit's founder and president. "eSCORE.com is a leading online resource for parents, and we're the leading publisher of Self-Help for Kids® and Self-Help for Teens® materials, plus award-winning books for parents and teachers. We have our own Web site, but eSCORE.com will attract parents who might not find us on the Web. With more and more people online every day, it's a great way to get our message out."
Fairview Press publishes books and materials that educate families and individuals about their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. eSCORE.com will excerpt content from Fairview Press books including, Everyday Creative Play: Simple Fun Things You Can Do to Help Your Young Child Learn by Lisa R. Church; Raising Strong Daughers by Jeanette Gadeberg; The Parent's Answer Book: Over 100 Most-Asked Questions About Your Child's Emotional Well-Being by Gerald Deskin and Greg Steckler; and Quantity Time: Moving Beyond the Quality Time Myth by Steffen T. Kraehmer. Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, Fairview is a not-for-profit organization affiliated with the University of Minnesota.
"We are very excited about our new partnership with eSCORE.com," said Lane Stiles, director of Fairview Press. "We see this as an opportunity to benefit families who might not otherwise be aware of our materials and the positive impact our books can have on an individual's well-being."
"At eSCORE.com, we partner with the leaders in high quality education and child development content to provide families with the best resources for their particular needs," said Andy Kaplan, president of eSCORE.com. "Free Spirit Publishing and Fairview Press enable us to provide distinctive, highly focused content to address the unique needs and interests of every family. Whether a parent is seeking specific information on choosing a school, navigating the self-esteem issues of girls, or taking action to support the education of a gifted or a learning disabled child, she can find it on eSCORE.com."
eSCORE.com identifies and evaluates a child's particular learning needs and interests using a combination of brief assessments and questionnaires, along with direct input from parents. eSCORE.com learning specialists partner with parents, recommending educational activities, products, and services to address the learning needs of their child. Free Spirit and Fairview Press books will be available in the eSCORE Store, recommended based on the results of eSCORE.com assessments taken by a parent and child.
Parents and their children can also turn to eSCORE.com for an array of other services including academic skill assessments; skill-building activities; information on state education standards; state test resources; child development workshops; and ongoing consultations with education specialists. Later this year, eSCORE.com will debut its customized online tutoring programs for kids.
eSCORE.com's other partners include Harvard Project Zero, the director of the Brazelton Institute, National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented, Center for Talent Development, LD OnLine, and Weekly Reader.
