Kaplan Inc. and Texas Appleseed
Accepting Applications for Diversity Legal Scholars Program

Program Assists Students Applying to Texas Law Schools

WHAT:
The Diversity Legal Scholars Program provides free Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) preparation to economically disadvantaged minority students. A joint effort of Kaplan, Inc., the nation's largest provider of LSAT preparation, and Texas Appleseed, a private, nonprofit public interest law center, the program was created in 1997 to help remedy the plunging enrollments of minority students in Texas law schools. Over seventy LSAT preparation scholarships have been awarded to date, funded by Kaplan and Texas Appleseed. Kaplan and Texas Appleseed are currently accepting applications from students planning to take the June 12, 2000 LSAT.

WHERE:
Scholarship winners can take the LSAT test preparation course at Kaplan centers in Austin, College Station, Dallas, El Paso, Forth Worth, Houston, Lubbock and San Antonio.

HOW TO APPLY:
Scholarships are awarded based on criteria including a minimum 3.0 GPA, financial need, recommendations, essays and intent to enter law school in Texas. Applications from students planning to take the June 12, 2000 LSAT should be postmarked by Friday, March 3, 2000. For applications, call 212-492-5695 or 512-236-1633 or email community@kaplan.com.
