Kaplan to Launch KaplanCollege.com
Offering Hundreds of Courses In Nine Areas for Working Professionals

New York, April 3, 2000 -- In a move that enhances its position as one of the leading providers of education and career services on the Internet, Kaplan has announced that it will launch KaplanCollege.com, offering an extensive array of online educational programs for working professionals who want to advance their careers.

When the site officially launches on April 17, learners will find nearly 500 professional development, continuing education, certification, and degree courses and programs in Nursing, Education, Criminal Justice, Real Estate, Legal Professions, Law, Management, General Business and Computing/Information Technology. The first instructor-led classes on KaplanCollege.com are scheduled to begin on May 1.

All of KaplanCollege.com’s courses will be offered online in either instructor-led or self-study formats.

"KaplanCollege.com will empower working professionals to accelerate their careers by acquiring credentials that lead to job advancement, higher salaries and new opportunities," said Jonathan Grayer, Kaplan's president and CEO. "Professionals will benefit from the breadth of our courses, and from Kaplan's expertise in delivering online education."

Distance learning pioneer Bill Rosenthal, formerly president of Ziff Davis Education, has been named president of KaplanCollege.com. Mr. Rosenthal oversaw the operations of ZD University, the leading web-based computer skills site. "KaplanCollege.com will be the leading source of online education for working professionals who want to take control of their careers," said Mr. Rosenthal. "Our aim is to provide high-quality, convenient and interactive learning to people whose lives are saturated with work or family responsibilities. By offering our programs online, we can make high quality education accessible and convenient for all working professionals."

KaplanCollege.com programs will be marketed directly to professionals as well as to businesses. The programs will also be available later this year through BrassRing.com, a business-to-business recruiting and hiring management company.

The programs provided through KaplanCollege.com build upon Kaplan’s existing distance learning programs: Concord School of Law and The National Institute of Paralegal Arts and Sciences, which in August became Kaplan College.

The nation’s first online law school, Concord School of Law was launched in September 1998, and is now the country’s second largest part-time law school. Concord Law School serves working professionals, family caretakers and others whose circumstances prevent them from attending a fixed facility school. Concord provides convenience and flexibility while maintaining the highest degree of educational quality. Its diverse student body consists largely of adults with full-time jobs.

Kaplan College is one of the largest distance education providers in the U.S., offering programs in paralegal studies, criminal justice and legal nurse consulting. The school served more than 8,000 students in 1999 and has graduated more than 50,000 students since its inception in 1976. Both Concord School of Law and the formerly named National Institute of Paralegal Arts and Sciences will now be part of KaplanCollege.com.

KaplanCollege.com (www.kaplancollege.com) will be entering the fastest growing segment of the total education market -- the online education market, which is expected to grow 95% every year through 2002, according to the International Data Corporation.
