eSCORE.com, First Educational Services Site for Parents, Announces Collaborations With Nation's Leading Gifted and Talented Organizations

Parents Gain New Online Access to Latest Content on Gifted and Talented Issues

New York, December 13, 1999 -- eSCORE.com, the first educational services site to help parents answer the question "what's best for my child's education and development?," today announced that it is collaborating with the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented (NRCGT-UCONN) and Center for Talent Development (CTD-Northwestern), two of the nation's leading gifted and talented research centers. Together with these organizations, eSCORE.com will provide in-depth, up-to-date content about gifted and talented education issues, further tailoring the site experience to meet the diverse needs of parents and children.

eSCORE.com, NRCGT-UCONN, and CTD-Northwestern will collaborate to develop content on a range of gifted and talented topics, including: how to tell if your child is gifted, curriculum options for gifted children, how to provide appropriate enrichment and learning opportunities at home for a gifted and talented child, and the latest news, articles and research on gifted and talented issues.

eSCORE.com, launching in January 2000, provides highly customized educational solutions for families. The partnerships with NRCGT-UCONN and CTD-Northwestern enable eSCORE.com to fill out the spectrum of resources it draws upon to serve the needs of unique populations. Last week, eSCORE.com announced partnerships with Dragonfly Toys and LD OnLine, suppliers of toys and content for parents of kids with special needs and learning disabilities.

"eSCORE.com is the only educational services site for parents of all kinds of kids who want to get more involved in their children's education. By partnering with the leaders in gifted and talented education, we can provide parents of gifted and talented children with the best information on the issues most relevant to them," said Andy Kaplan, president of eSCORE.com. "We'll be delivering a deep, individualized experience for parents to make the most of the time they spend on the site, and with their kids on learning activities."

The National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented is a collaborative effort of the University of Connecticut, City University of New York/City College, Stanford University, University of Virginia, Yale University, 52 state and territorial departments of education, over 360 public and private schools, over 167 content area consultants, and stakeholders representing professional organizations, parent groups, and businesses.

"Our goal is to conduct high quality research that can be used as the basis for generating very practical educational products and services for teachers, administrators, parents, and policy makers," said Joseph Renzulli, director of the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented. "Now, eSCORE.com will put our research into the hands of parents who want to know more about their gifted and talented kids."

The Center for Talent Development of Northwestern University serves academically talented students, their families, teachers, and counselors. Services include programs that identify and publicly recognize talented students; educational programs; a program of research on the psychology, sociology, and education of gifted and talented learners; publications for and about academically talented students; academic counseling services and materials for students and parents; training programs for educators; programs to aid academically talented economically disadvantaged students; and seminars for parents.

"We're excited to partner with eSCORE.com to give parents a great new resource for accessing information on gifted and talented children and issues," said Paula Olszweski-Kubilius with Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development (CTD).

eSCORE.com, a division of SCORE! Parents can also turn to eSCORE.com for an array of other services including state test resources, child development workshops, ongoing consultations with education specialists and local educational event listings.

eSCORE.com's other content partners include Harvard Project Zero, the Brazelton Institute and LD OnLine. The eSCORE Store offers the most comprehensive online inventory of children's selected to help children realize their learning potential. Suppliers include Imagine the Challenge, Educator's Resource, and Baker & Taylor. eSCORE.com has initial funding of $25 million.
