Kaplan Expands Distance Learning Division
Acquires National Institute for Paralegal Arts and Sciences,
 A Leading Provider of Distance Education Degrees and Certificates

New York, April 6, 1999- In a move that will expand its presence in the distance learning arena, Kaplan Educational Centers has announced the acquisition of National Institute for Paralegal Arts and Sciences (NIPAS). NIPAS is a leading accredited distance education institution offering diplomas, certificates and degrees in paralegal studies and legal nurse consulting. NIPAS will join Kaplan's distance learning division which currently includes Concord School of Law, the nation's first online law school.

In addition to its degree programs, NIPAS offers specialty certificate programs for paralegals in real estate law, law office management, litigation assistantship and legal research.
