Career Centers of Texas, Corpus Christi Campus, Launches New Vocational Nursing Diploma
Only school to offer 12-month vocational nursing diploma in Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi, Texas, Oct. 2, 2007—Career Centers of Texas, Corpus Christi campus, has opened enrollment for its new vocational nursing diploma program. The career-focused program is designed to help students acquire the skills necessary to obtain entry-level vocational nursing positions in health care facilities. Classes begin Oct. 22, 2007.
The 12-month program aims to teach students primary job skills such as basic patient, post-surgical, pediatric, elderly patient, and pre- and post-natal nursing care. With an average class size of 10 or fewer students, instructors will emphasize hands-on experience. In addition to classroom instruction, instructors will lead students in a clinical rotation to experience a variety of patient care areas.
Career Centers of Texas launched its vocational nursing program to help address the growing need for licensed vocational nurses throughout the state. Career Centers of Texas is now the only school in Corpus Christi to offer a 12-month vocational nursing program. According to the Texas Long-Term Occupational Projections, a report by the Texas Workforce Commission, department of Labor Market Information, licensed practical and vocational nursing positions are expected to increase 24.8 percent form 2004 to 2014.

Upon graduation, students may be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) for licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Reporting directly to a physician or registered nurse, licensed vocational nurses deliver care to a range of patients in a wide variety of clinical settings. Licensed vocational nurses may find employment in facilities including hospitals, long-term care, home health, correctional facilities, doctor offices, clinics, ambulatory care and as a school nurse.
Career Centers of Texas, Corpus Christi campus, is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). Career Centers of Texas, Corpus Christi campus, offers eight diploma programs in fields including allied health, vocational nursing, accounting and computer applications.
