SOUTHEASTERN CAREER COLLEGE CHANGES NAME TO KAPLAN CAREER INSTITUTE

Renaming ceremony held at school’s new location

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 1, 2007 – Kaplan Higher Education today announced that Southeastern Career College will now be known as Kaplan Career Institute.

By changing its name to Kaplan Career Institute, the school is formally recognized as being part of the Kaplan family.  Kaplan, Inc. is a global provider of education services, and its name reflects a long-standing reputation for excellence.

In addition to the new name, the campus recently relocated to 750 Envious Lane, Nashville, Tenn., to better serve students.  The new facility provides increased parking, additional classrooms, and a larger library and student resource center.

Today, the campus hosted a ceremony to celebrate its new name and location.  Highlights included the revealing of the Kaplan Career Institute building sign and remarks from Rep. Susan Lynn, of the Tennessee General Assembly; Sen. Joe Haynes, of the Tennessee General Assembly; and Jeff Conlon, president of Kaplan Higher Education.

“For-profit schools like Kaplan give Tennesseans more opportunities for higher education,” said Sen. Joe Haynes.  “Nontraditional schools are the new generation of access to higher education.”

“Today we are honored to take the Kaplan name and further align ourselves with the 69 other Kaplan Higher Education campuses around the country,” said Adam Butler, executive director of Kaplan Career Institute – Nashville.  “Our local reputation for quality, educational excellence and integrity will only be enhanced through our affiliation with Kaplan, a name synonymous with educational excellence.”

Kaplan Career Institute is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE).  The campus currently offers five associate degree and diploma programs in the legal and allied health fields.  For more information, please see http://www.kaplancareerinstitute.com.
