In this role, Burckhardt will be responsible for helping the nursing school establish strategic partnerships, unify curricula across the organization’s campus-based nursing programs and implement licensing preparation into the curriculum.
“Kaplan Higher Education is thrilled to welcome Dr. Burckhardt to our leadership team,” said John Danaher, M.D., President of the Kaplan Higher Education School of Nursing. “She brings a deep understanding of nursing academia and the nursing profession to Kaplan Higher Education and will serve us well as we develop and execute our strategic vision for the school.”

Burckhardt served in a number of roles at Kaplan Test Prep, including Vice President, Executive Director and Director of Nursing. In these roles, she oversaw the strategic planning, budgeting and operational responsibilities for national and international NCLEX-RN® and NCLEX-PN® review courses and Integrated Testing Programs for nursing schools.
She also briefly worked for Kaplan Higher Education in 2000 when she served as Dean of the Kaplan College School of Nursing in Boston. She has also taught at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley and Maryville University, both in St. Louis, MO.
Burckhardt holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, a master’s degree in education (adult education) from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Loyola University in Chicago. She lives in St. Louis.
