KAPLAN CAREER INSTITUTE OPENS IN BOSTON

Kaplan Higher Education Launches Second Boston Area Campus

BOSTON, May 14, 2009—Kaplan Higher Education opened a new Kaplan Career Institute campus in Boston, which began classes today.  The school, located at 540 Commonwealth Ave. in Kenmore Square, will help serve the community’s needs for career-focused education and provide local employers with skilled graduates in high-demand fields.  The Boston campus is Kaplan Higher Education’s second campus in the Boston metropolitan area.

“We are excited to extend our foundation for high-quality educational services, strong curriculum and personal approach to students here in Boston and the surrounding communities,” said Jeff Conlon, president of Kaplan Higher Education. “The Boston area is an important community for us, and Kaplan is committed to offering educational opportunities in some of the most in-demand employment fields in the state.”

Led by Adam Kellner, executive director of Kaplan Career Institute, the campus opens by offering three diploma programs in dental assistant, medical billing and coding specialist, and medical assistant.  The programs are designed to aid students in obtaining the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required to pursue a wide variety of entry-level positions in the health care field.

“Opening a second Kaplan campus in the Boston area will allow us to better serve local residents who seek quality, career-focused training,” said Kellner. “We offer a unique integration of curriculum with professional skill development to empower students to achieve their life-long personal and professional goals.”

Kellner has nearly a decade of experience in education management.  Previously, he served as director of operations for the Kaplan Career Institute Charlestown campus and regional manager for SCORE! Educational Centers.  Before entering the education field, Kellner served in the United States Army for four years.

The college’s newly-renovated 16,000-plus square-foot facility features 11 classrooms, which include two computer labs, three dental labs, two medical labs and four lecture rooms.  Conveniently located in Kenmore Square, the campus is approximately four blocks from Fenway Park and surrounded by retail shops and restaurants.  The campus is easily accessible via public transportation and is near bus routes and the Kenmore Square Station of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

All three programs require at least one externship, giving students the opportunity to immerse themselves into their chosen career environment and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Kaplan Career Institute offers each student job search assistance through its career services department and tutoring at no extra charge.  The Kaplan Career Institute Boston campus is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).  ACCSCT is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education.  Kaplan Career Institute Boston campus is a branch campus of Kaplan Career Institute Charlestown campus.
