KAPLAN ACADEMY OF COLORADO APPROVED TO OFFER STATEWIDE
PUBLIC ONLINE HIGH SCHOOL
Rifle, CO, May 22, 2008—The Kaplan Academy of Colorado has been approved by the Colorado Department of Education to open its online public high school to students statewide starting this fall. The Kaplan Academy of Colorado, which operates in partnership with Garfield Re-2 School District in Rifle, opened in 2007.
“This is a tremendous development for Colorado’s high school students who now have the flexibility and convenience of online education with the high quality standard that is synonymous with the Kaplan brand,” said Charles Thornburgh, the President of Kaplan Virtual Education, which operates the Kaplan Academy of Colorado.
Courses are embedded with audio, video and other engaging elements to cater to different skill levels, facilitate learning and keep students engaged. Students can work from an Internet- connected computer virtually anywhere at any time. Certified teachers use white boards—the equivalent of a real-time online blackboard—to demonstrate coursework, and they are available to answer student questions via instant message, telephone and email.
Kaplan Academy students can select from 80 core, Honors and Advanced Placement courses. The school is open to all qualified Colorado students. To learn more about the Kaplan Academy of Colorado, visit www.kaplanacademy.com/colorado.
