Reveals Top 20 Cities for Job Hunters
Atlanta and Southern California Will Lead the Nation in Number of New Jobs in Next Century

New York -- Atlanta will lead all U.S. cities in job creation over the next 25 years with 1.8 million new positions, according to a report in Careers 2000, a special issue published by Kaplan and Newsweek magazine on newsstands, Monday, March 29. Among states with the highest number of new jobs, California overwhelmingly tops the nation with nearly 5 million new jobs predicted, most of which will be located in the southern region. Phoenix and Houston tied for second with 1.5 million jobs followed by Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., San Diego, Orange County, Seattle, Denver, Orlando, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Boston, Chicago, Austin-San Marcos (TX), Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Riverside (CA), and Sacramento.

According to the report, hot careers identified within Health/Medicine include: physical therapy, primary care, and health care managers; Law: geriatric law, health law, and intellectual property; Business: venture capitalism, international trade, finance, and marketing; Technology: network specialists, programmers, Web masters, and computer security; Media/Entertainment: new media, PR managers, and technology journalists; and Education: secondary-school teachers, special ed, and adult education.
