KAPLAN UNIVERSITY OPENS THIRD FORT LAUDERDALE LOCATION IN THREE YEARS

 TO ACCOMMODATE GROWTH

Even in tough economic times, the University’s employee ranks grow to support growing student base

Fort Lauderdale, FL, Nov. 5, 2008—Kaplan University today announced the opening of its third Fort Lauderdale location—26,000 square feet of space at 6600 N. Andrews Ave., designed to accommodate its growing employee base and new business initiatives. This announcement comes just 16 months after Kaplan opened a new 100,000-square-foot facility, now filled to capacity, off of West Cypress Creek  Road about a mile away.

“Kaplan University has enjoyed tremendous growth in recent years,” said Andrew S. Rosen, President of Kaplan University. “As our student ranks swell, the University’s employee base will also grow to ensure that we continue to provide students with the kinds of support services and academic experience that will help them be successful.”

While the local economy tightens and some companies are downsizing, Kaplan University currently has openings in admissions, academics, finance, marketing, technology and operations that it will fill in Broward County.

The new facility in the Cypress Centre will accommodate approximately 250 employees. This is on top of the 1,500-employee capacity at the Kaplan University Fort Lauderdale support centers, two 100,000-square-foot buildings at 6301 Kaplan University Avenue off of West Cypress Creek Road. The University opened its first offices in South Florida in 2000 with 65 employees and today has almost 2,200, including hundreds of employees at its Boca Raton location at 6409 Congress Avenue.

South Florida is home to the University’s largest online student support center, which serves more than 37,000 online students around the country and the world. The University also has support centers in Chicago and Phoenix.

Kaplan University, based in Davenport, Iowa, is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).  The University offers more than 100 academic programs and currently serves more than 41,000 online and on-ground students, with support centers in Fort Lauderdale, Chicago and Phoenix.
