Roxanne Khazarian Named General Counsel of Kaplan, Inc.

NEW YORK, May 22, 2003 - Kaplan, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Washington Post Company (WPO), announced today that it has appointed Roxanne Khazarian to the position of General Counsel for the company, overseeing all of Kaplan's legal operations.

Prior to joining Kaplan, Khazarian held senior legal and management positions at Ethan Allen, Inc. and Textron Lycoming, a unit of Textron, Inc. With more than 20 years of professional experience, Khazarian's background includes legal expertise in a breadth of areas including advertising/marketing intellectual property, e-commerce, distribution counseling, transactions, employee relations, litigation, international, retail, real estate and regulatory affairs.

She holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
