NEW HARVARD SQUARE KAPLAN CENTER OPENS FOR CAMBRIDGE AREA’S ASPIRING PRE-LAW, PRE-MED, PRE-MBA AND GRAD STUDENTS
State-of-the-Art Facility Serves Local Students’ Preparation Needs
Cambridge, MA (April 29, 2008) – Educational powerhouse Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, best known for preparing students for standardized admissions exams such as the SAT, GMAT, GRE, MCAT and LSAT, just moved into Harvard Square. Last year, more students took Kaplan test prep courses (440,000) than seven and a half times the combined undergraduate population of the Ivy League.
Located at 39 JFK Street, just across from “The Garage” shopping mall (next to Peet's Coffee), Kaplan’s new facilities will primarily serve the students of Harvard University, MIT and Tufts University in preparing for medical school, law school, business and graduate school admissions tests. Last year, 11 percent of the undergraduate student body at Harvard applied to law school and medical school alone.
“Given how important Harvard Square is to the economic fabric of Cambridge and the social fabric of area students, this location is a natural fit for us,” said Kevin Richard, center director, Harvard Square Kaplan Center. “We’ve seen renewed growth in the number of students pursuing graduate-level degrees, as they recognize the benefits of advanced degrees, which include significantly stronger earning potential and more opportunities for professional advancement.”
On May 13, the Kaplan Cambridge Center will hold a celebratory event for local government, civic and business leaders.
