At Kaplan, we know that education can open doors – to new opportunities, a better job and a richer life. We have long worked with individuals, schools and businesses to make educational opportunities available to underserved students.
Our most recent philanthropic initiative is the Kaplan Educational Foundation. Through its Leadership Program, we serve talented community college students who have the potential to become influential members of their communities but are in need of financial assistance.
We offer these high-achieving, low-income students the resources and guidance they need to finish their associate’s degrees and continue their studies at four-year universities. In addition to funding for college, each student receives mentoring and career counseling, leadership training and individualized academic advising.
Kaplan also participates in a number of other community outreach activities, helping thousands of individuals each year. From Los Angeles to London to Tel Aviv, our employees are involved in Kaplan-sponsored initiatives that help students realize their dreams. In addition, we provide free test preparation, college admissions guidance and books to disadvantaged students in many communities. We support local organizations such as Citizens’ Committee for Children, New York/Chicago Cares and Reading is Fundamental.
In 2006, we launched the first Kaplan Three Peaks Challenge, a climb of the three highest mountains in Great Britain. The event raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for CARE International, one of the world’s leading organizations fighting poverty in developing countries. Our fundraising supports CARE’s educational projects in India, including improving the quality of impoverished schools and literacy rates of female students.
